4th Annual Santa’s 4-County Sleigh Run

Members of United for a Good Cause embarked upon an inter-county Christmas sleigh run convoy on Christmas Eve 2016.

We traveled back and forth through multiple cities of Northwest Florida and the Emerald Coast, delivering toys to less fortunate families who weren’t able to attend the Christmas Miracle Children’s Fiesta. Families with their children showed up at each designated point.

They selected toys and gifts from the great variety made available for this occasion. It was quite marvelous seeing selfless people come together to spread Christmas cheer to the less fortunate.

Many of the participants were those who volunteered at the Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Children’s Fiesta, still with an indivisible amount of warm heartedness that begs to spread joy.

Many thanks to Sabór A México of Fort Walton Beach and Helen Back Again of Crestview, La Chalupita of Santa Rosa Beach, and La Rumba of Defuniak Springs who served as designated stopping points for the sleigh run.

12th Annual Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Children's Fiesta

On December 17, 2016, United for a Good Cause Inc. hosted the 12th Annual Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Children’s Fiesta. Numerous selfless and kind people, along with sponsor and participating businesses and organizations, came together to host this one of a kind event with a twist of Latin flavor.

Christmas spirit and cheer was in the hearts of all kinds of people and organizations from all over the Emerald Coast, who were present in making a day to remember for so many children in need. Food services, entertainment groups, church choirs, organizations such as AmeriCorps, Toys for Tots, The Home Depot, Helen Back, K2 Media, Studio Fuzion, Miss Costa Latina, and numerous other entities were present in creating fun for over 1,800 children and families that attended.

Children with special needs were given first run of all the activities, with many proud parents’ eyes shimmering with glee to see their children filled with joy. Everything at the event was free; food, attractions, prizes, all free of charge and all committed voluntarily from such marvelous people.

Featured were shows of audacious and immensely brilliant talents, such as young dancers that seemingly defied human physical limits. Dance contests for prizes including bicycles were also held. From any perspective, the live shows that were hosted were absolutely impressive.

Throughout the massive room of the Emerald Coast Convention Center, an abundance of entertainment was in every direction, from balloon animals, clowns, games, magicians, face painting, food, photo booths, mascots, even Santa Claus himself and much, much more.

On 19 December, the leadership and supporters of United for a Good Cause Inc., hosted the 11th Annual Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Needy Children's Fiesta. A huge thank you to Pastor Boldin and his staff for the unmatched support and tireless work to help us make this event the great success it was!

AmeriCorps was there with face painting and a Christmas Card making table. Hispanic Fest 2015

HISPANIC FEST 2015 - Entertainment, Food, Fashion, Theater, Patriotism!

26 September, Fort Walton Beach: Over 1300 attended Hispanic Fest 2015 and everyone had a wonderful time thanks to the sponsorship of several area business, the planners and organizers from United for a Good Cause, and volunteers, young and old, from as far away as Pensacola! More than 40 vendors also participated.

ZT Motors was the Title Sponsor of this great event and their generosity and contribution to this year's festival was integral in its success.

As part of the festival, a wonderful segment took place in which the organizers honored two World War II Veterans with patriotic songs, a re-enactment of the raising of the US Flag over Iwo-Jima by the Emerald Coast Young Marines Organization, WWII era songs from the Smooth Sailin' Quartet, dancing by the High Steppers and great patriotic songs by Michael Aldahondo and Reid Soria. The Hurlburt Field Honor Guard conducted a ceremonial folding of the flag and presented it to Mr. Fred Baber, a WWII veteran who was in the audience. Also in attendance was Mr. Sam Lombardo, another WWII veteran. Mrs. Betty Dore, owner of Rapunzel Hair Studio organized a presentation of plaques to two local wounded warriors with participation from Air Force and Army active duty personnel. This inspirational segment closed out with a donation of $500 to Mrs. Kelly Hale, representative from Building Homes For Heroes (www.buildinghomesforheroes.org). The donation was a combined effort by Mrs. Betty Dore and United for A Good Cause Inc.

Another outstanding part of the festival was the Fashion Show organized by Betty Dore with help from Marcos Ortiz, owner of Pink Tree Boutique in Fort Walton Beach and Hamizadai Fereira. Hamizadai is a local professional model who worked with all the models that participated. The Fashion Show was lauded by many in the audience as a great addition to our Festival and will continue each year.

All the proceeds from the Hispanic Fest events go toward the Annual Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Needy Children's Fiesta. 10th Anniversary of the "Emerald Coast CHRISTmas Miracle" Children's Fiesta

On December 20, 2015, the 10th anniversary of our needy children's fiesta was held at the Christian Life Center of First Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This was the 3rd straight year at their beautiful facility.

Over 900 children and families attended and enjoyed themselves tremendously! As always, we had entertainers, magicians, and this year, a very special appearance by the Imani Milele Children's Choir from Uganda, who blessed all attendees with their incredible talent and spiritual musical presentation. We had games, hundreds of Cotton Candy, nutritional shakes, lots of Helen Back pizza, latin food from El Paso Mexican Grill in Mary Esther, El Patron in Navarre, and El Rincon Boricua in Fort Walton. Over 60 new bikes were given away. This was a great time had by all. 10 years! Wow, our caring volunteers are just too many to mention, but, all of them are special.

The 2nd Annual Santa's 4-County Sleigh Run

The end of this video contains footage of a new tradition we started in 2013, Santa's Sleigh Run. On December 24, 2015, our organization's volunteers traveled throughout the four counties in our area and took gifts and Christmas cheer to families who called us for assistance, but could not attend the Fiesta. Over 20 families, and more than 40 kids were visited and a few got brand new bikes donated by Destin United Methodist Church and others. Thanks to Helen Back in Crestview, we treated a few lucky ones to delicious Pizza.

We look forward to continuing these two traditions that give us a chance to help ensure that we "put a smile on needy children's faces, and their parents, during Christmas!"

A Collection of Photos from the Inaugural Santa Run

As an extension of our Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Children's Fiesta, we conducted our first ever Santa Run on 24 December 2013. Several volunteers including Rick, Jo, Joanna and Reid Soria accompanied Ed Alicea, our "Santa" Eddie, and David Triana on a tri-county ride to deliver toys to around 20 families and over 40 kids. These families had been referred to us by other agencies or individuals and had been invited, but unable to attend our Children's Fiesta. We decided to take Christmas right to their homes or a place of their choosing! We started in Fort Walton Beach, went to Milton, Crestview, Defuniak Springs, Freeport and finished back in Fort Walton Beach/Mary Esther. Reid and the Blizzards (Rick, Jo and Joanna), accompanied by the rest of us, sang Christmas songs and most kids we visited happily joined in! It was a most blessed and fun...and exhausting day....but worth every single second!

The party was held on 21 December 2013 and, for the second year, it was held at the beautiful Christian Life Center of the First Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Over 800 children and families attended and once again the event was highly successful thanks to the commitment and diligence of the organization's leadership and planning committee. But even more importantly, it was a TEAM effort that included the generous donors (see Thank You poster), the local media, and especially the volunteer force that included many military personnel and young people. United for a Good Cause is proud to say we have the LARGEST Latin-Themed needy Children's Fiesta in Florida and we thank everyone that played a part, big or small, in "Uniting the Community...for the Children!"
